New Year, New Comp, New Area, No Prob
HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! ITS 2018!! AND YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN 2018?!?!? I COME HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAYAYAYYYYYY (but trust me I’m not trunky) Yesterday, my Zone of missionaries celebrated the New Year like we were on the east coast. At 9 pm Pacific Time we counted down and celebrated and then headed to bed like the good little missionaries we are. I’m sure this will be the only New Year’s for a while where I don’t stay up till midnight. It was fun and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. For several hours we played fun games and enjoyed snacks and stuff. Because it was a Sunday, we had our Family Home Evening to make it a little bit more spiritual. We then played scripture pictionary and another game where we have to come up with the funniest answers to questions about the our mission. For instance, some of the questions were, “describe your mission in three words” or “sure fire way to start a street contact”. It was super funny!
This week has been quite crazy. Sister Van and I are definitely still learning the area. Our bike area is MASSIVE! We have had days where we bike ALL DAY and we still haven’t reached the top and bottom boarders of our area. It is insane. It is super frustrating for us because there are so many places that we want to go and people that we want to visit, but we just can’t get there. It is a very different situation from my last area. Here, there are so many opportunities to teach people and help them progress in the Gospel, but we have not been able to reach them either because they are too far away, or because we can’t be out biking when its dark (which is like 5 o’clock on…). I am working so hard though. My body has never been this exhausted. We come home each night and just collapse on the floor. My muscles are definitely growing and are very exhausted. However, this is a very satisfying feeling as a missionary. There is no better feeling than coming home absolutely exhausted and knowing you really gave it your all. I need to live every day that way!
The long road home into the sunset after a busy day of being missionaries.
I guess I never really got the chance last week to talk about my new companion or new area. My new companion is Sister Van Quakebeke, but we just call her Sister Van. She is sooooooooooo sweet and such a hard worker! I have loved being her companion these past two weeks. We have lots and lots of fun together.

We try to take the hard situation we are in and make it positive. We got doubled into this ward, which means that we are both new to the area. The ward has not had Sister Missionaries in a really long time and it is definitely an adjustment for them. It has been tricky getting our bearings and getting to know the area and the people, but we are getting there. Sister Van, while she has only been out on her mission for three months, is INCREDIBLE and has been handling the situation like she has been out on a mission forever. I would never guess that I was the Senior Companion haha. She is a awesome. My favorite part about our new area is the beach. It has become my sancutary. Whenever we are stressed or need a break, we go there. It is the best!! I LOVE IT!
It was very nice to talk to my family on Christmas Day. While we were kind of in a weird situation with the Skype not working perfectly, it was still okay. It was nice to see everyone and catch up on their lives. I only have one phone call left on my mission. Thats kind of weird!! I am slowly becoming an old missionary 🙂 There truly is no better way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas than as a Missionary. We were able to share the Light and Love of Christ with so many people this holiday season. It made me appreciate the season so much more. Christmas seriously was the best. Thank you so much to everyone that made it special for me and sent me packages and emails and letters. You guys are the best!! I am so blessed 🙂
Oh well, I am fresh outta time! Got to go!!!
Have a great week 🙂
